Van Cleef & Arpels
Van Cleef & Arpels was founded in Paris in 1906 and has a long history of supporting dance, including George Balanchine’s ballet Jewels, which was performed by the New York City Ballet in 1967. Its previous collaboration with Benjamin Millepied and L.A. Dance Project, the Gems trilogy, debuted in 2013 with Reflections at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris with a score by David Lang and a set and costumes by Barbara Kruger. In 2014, the second chapter, Hearts & Arrows, was first performed at the Olympia Theater in Miami in collaboration with the artist Liam Gillick, composer Philip Glass, and costumer Janie Taylor. The final installment, On the other side, was premiered in 2016 at Sadler’s Wells in London with a score by Philip Glass, costumes by Mark Bradford, and scenery by Alessandro Sartori.
