Since its inception, the LADP residency program has been integral to the vision of creating an experimental performing arts organization. This fully paid AIR has given national and international choreographers, visual artists, filmmakers and more the opportunity to work with the LADP company to produce unique collaborative work in an intimate setting.
Current Artists in Residence:
In August 2022 Bobbi Jene Smith and Or Schraiber, both alums of the prestigious Batsheva Dance Company and founding members of the American Modern Opera Company, joined L.A. Dance Project for a two-year choreographic artist residency
Smith and Schraiber, who are partners both inside and outside the studio, have choreographed numerous original dance works independently, and collaboratively, for companies including the Martha Graham Dance Company, VAIL Dance Festival, CORPUS of The Royal Danish Ballet, and L.A. Dance Project. Most recently Smith was commissioned for a new evening-length work for the Paris Opera Ballet.
