Please join us in our DTLA studio and performance space for an open rehearsal as the company prepares for its upcoming New York season, which includes the NY premieres of Benjamin Millepied’s Reflections: A Triptych at The Perelman Center and Romeo & Juliet Suite at the Park Avenue Armory as part of the New York Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels Festival.

The one‑hour working rehearsal will be led by Associate Artistic Director Sebastien Marcovici. The company is currently rehearsing both works, and the specific material explored during this session may vary.

The cast includes returning LADP alumni as well as new dancers joining the company for the season.

Join us at L.A. Dance Project on May 2 for an open rehearsal of WALL—BODY, a new interdisciplinary performance created by choreographer Shu Kinouchi in collaboration with architect Hiroshi Kaneko. Premiering May 16, 2026, WALL—BODY is an 80‑minute, exhibition‑style solo work that invites audiences to experience choreography as it unfolds within a shifting architectural landscape.

WALL—BODY brings together choreographer Shu Kinouchi and designer Hiroshi Kaneko in a performance that examines how walls shape the body’s relationship to space. The work assembles inanimate objects into an ensemble in dialogue with Kinouchi’s solo choreography.

Twelve movable ten‑foot walls and a tower create shifting conditions that test the endurance of the body and its desire for change. The performance approaches the intimacies of shelter, division, obstruction, and transgression through gestures of vulnerability, resistance, and care. The work emerges from an extended exchange of drawings, dances, models, and conversations, bringing architecture and choreography into a shared creative process.

WALL—BODY invites audiences to consider how we navigate the structures that surround us.

WALL—BODY was developed and produced by L.A. Dance Project through its programming arm, LADP Presents, with funding from Charlene Achki‑Repko, Susan Baumgarten, Robert Braun & Joan Friedman, Susan Friedman, Jane Jelenko, Michael & Aliza Lesser, David Totheroh, and Sue Tsao.

A New York Premiere

Celebrated choreographer, director, and filmmaker Benjamin Millepied harnesses his propulsive style, a fusion of ballet and contemporary movement, to revisit Prokofiev’s iconic ballet in a contemporary, site-specific take blending dance, theater, and film.

Through the use of handheld cameras, the audience is taken on a journey which far exceeds the parameters of a traditional stage setting with live video transmitted to onstage screens that follows the action in different tableaux and locations both backstage and throughout the Armory. The dance-drama plays with the ideas of theatricality and reality and features a condensed version of Shakespeare’s story that distills the narrative to its essentials, focusing on the undying love of the central couple and the explosive emotions elicited. Each performance features a different cast as the star-crossed lovers, departing from traditional gender norms to highlight diverse couples male/ female, male/male, female/female in a universal celebration of love. Millepied thus presents the mythical tale through a modern and original lens, rediscovering its beauty in a fresh and inspired interpretation of the tragic tale.

L.A. Dance Project presents 2025 LAUNCH:LA resident artists Megan Paradowski and Rosalynde LeBlanc in four shared-bill performances this September.

Selected for their distinct artistic voices and commitment to pushing the boundaries of contemporary performance, Paradowski and LeBlanc embody the spirit of LAUNCH:LA—an initiative designed to uplift Los Angeles-based artists. Their projects reflect the program’s emphasis on experimentation, collaboration, and the creation of bold new work.

About 2025 LAUNCH:LA Artists

Megan Paradowski
Megan Paradowski is a contemporary choreographer and founder of Empara, an experiential dance company creating live performance, film, and interdisciplinary collaborations. Her work blends theatricality with risk-driven movement, combining raw physicality, pedestrian gesture, and precise technique. Megan holds a BFA in dance from NYU, and her choreography has been presented across the U.S., Europe, and Mexico in venues including The Aster, Soho House, 2220 Arts + Archives, Museum of Neon Art, NAVEL LA, and Hosek Contemporary Berlin. She is drawn to the transformative space where movement and personal experience collide.

Rosalynde LeBlanc
Rosalynde LeBlanc is a dancer, choreographer, producer, and educator whose career spans concert dance, opera, and film. She has performed with the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company, Mikhail Baryshnikov’s White Oak Dance Project, and the Metropolitan Opera, and more recently with Keith Johnson, Colleen Thomas, Taryn Vander Hoop, and Charissa Kroeger. Roz co-directed the Peabody Award-winning documentary Can You Bring It: Bill T. Jones and D-Man in the Waters, and was recently honored with the 2025 Exemplary Women in Dance in L.A. Award. She is a professor at Loyola Marymount University, and holds degrees from SUNY Purchase (BFA) and Hollins University (MFA). She is represented by Bloc L.A.

About LAUNCH:LA

Founded in 2021, LAUNCH:LA is L.A. Dance Project’s annual residency program supporting early-career, Los Angeles-based dance makers by easing financial and logistical barriers to the creation of new work. The program champions artists from all backgrounds, disciplines, and abilities—particularly those from communities historically underrepresented in the field—and encourages proposals that explore interdisciplinary collaboration across dance, technology, visual art, music, and more.

Reflections, A Triptych
Presented as part of the Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels New York Festival

A New York Premiere

Commissioned by Van Cleef & Arpels, and presented with the support of Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels, this trilogy of contemporary ballets—Reflections (2013), Hearts & Arrows (2014), and On the Other Side (2016)—draws inspiration from the symbolic and emotional resonance of precious stones. Each work offers a distinct world where movement, music, and design converge to reveal something luminous and intimate.

Presented together for the first time in New York by PAC NYC and Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels, the triptych marks the culmination of a creative journey spanning over a decade.

Reflections is a meditation on longing—sensual, sharp-edged, and fleeting. Set to David Lang’s haunting score and framed by Barbara Kruger’s bold visual language, the ballet explores the tension between presence and absence, desire and memory.

Hearts & Arrows pulses with crystalline energy, carried by the precise, layered rhythms of Philip Glass. Liam Gillick’s sculptural design of shifting light and shadow becomes a silent partner to the choreography, where emotion takes on an architectural clarity.

On the Other Side is a deeply human work—intimate, emotional, and communal. Set to a suite of piano études by Glass and enveloped by Mark Bradford’s immersive, painterly set, the ballet becomes a portrait of togetherness, tracing the bonds between individuals and the quiet strength of collective experience.
