Join us at L.A. Dance Project on May 2 for an open rehearsal of WALL—BODY, a new interdisciplinary performance created by choreographer Shu Kinouchi in collaboration with architect Hiroshi Kaneko. Premiering May 16, 2026, WALL—BODY is an 80‑minute, exhibition‑style solo work that invites audiences to experience choreography as it unfolds within a shifting architectural landscape.

WALL—BODY brings together choreographer Shu Kinouchi and designer Hiroshi Kaneko in a performance that examines how walls shape the body’s relationship to space. The work assembles inanimate objects into an ensemble in dialogue with Kinouchi’s solo choreography.

Twelve movable ten‑foot walls and a tower create shifting conditions that test the endurance of the body and its desire for change. The performance approaches the intimacies of shelter, division, obstruction, and transgression through gestures of vulnerability, resistance, and care. The work emerges from an extended exchange of drawings, dances, models, and conversations, bringing architecture and choreography into a shared creative process.

WALL—BODY invites audiences to consider how we navigate the structures that surround us.

WALL—BODY was developed and produced by L.A. Dance Project through its programming arm, LADP Presents, with funding from Charlene Achki‑Repko, Susan Baumgarten, Robert Braun & Joan Friedman, Susan Friedman, Jane Jelenko, Michael & Aliza Lesser, David Totheroh, and Sue Tsao.

Paradowski is the founder of Empara, an experiential dance company known for its raw physicality, theatricality, and interdisciplinary collaborations. Her work blends precise technique with pedestrian gesture and risk-driven movement, creating a space where personal experience and choreography collide.

This open rehearsal offers a behind-the-scenes look at Paradowski’s creative process as she develops new material for LAUNCH:LA. Audiences are invited to watch rehearsal and stay for a post-session conversation with the artist.

LeBlanc is a choreographer, educator, and former dancer with the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company, known for her deeply researched, socially engaged work. Her choreography often explores memory, embodiment, and the politics of representation, drawing from her background in performance and academia.

This open rehearsal offers audiences an intimate look into LeBlanc’s creative process as she develops new material for LAUNCH:LA. Attendees are invited to watch rehearsal and stay for a post-session conversation with the artist.

Selected for their distinct artistic voices and commitment to pushing the boundaries of contemporary performance, Paradowski and LeBlanc embody the spirit of LAUNCH:LA—an initiative designed to uplift Los Angeles-based artists. Their projects reflect the program’s emphasis on experimentation, collaboration, and the creation of bold new work.

Megan Paradowski
Megan Paradowski is a contemporary choreographer and founder of Empara, an experiential dance company creating live performance, film, and interdisciplinary collaborations. Her work blends theatricality with risk-driven movement, combining raw physicality, pedestrian gesture, and precise technique. Megan holds a BFA in dance from NYU, and her choreography has been presented across the U.S., Europe, and Mexico in venues including The Aster, Soho House, 2220 Arts + Archives, Museum of Neon Art, NAVEL LA, and Hosek Contemporary Berlin. She is drawn to the transformative space where movement and personal experience collide.

Rosalynde LeBlanc
Rosalynde LeBlanc is a dancer, choreographer, producer, and educator whose career spans concert dance, opera, and film. She has performed with the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company, Mikhail Baryshnikov’s White Oak Dance Project, and the Metropolitan Opera, and more recently with Keith Johnson, Colleen Thomas, Taryn Vander Hoop, and Charissa Kroeger. Roz co-directed the Peabody Award-winning documentary Can You Bring It: Bill T. Jones and D-Man in the Waters, and was recently honored with the 2025 Exemplary Women in Dance in L.A. Award. She is a professor at Loyola Marymount University, and holds degrees from SUNY Purchase (BFA) and Hollins University (MFA). She is represented by Bloc L.A.

Founded in 2021, LAUNCH:LA is L.A. Dance Project’s annual residency program supporting early-career, Los Angeles-based dance makers by easing financial and logistical barriers to the creation of new work. The program champions artists from all backgrounds, disciplines, and abilities—particularly those from communities historically underrepresented in the field—and encourages proposals that explore interdisciplinary collaboration across dance, technology, visual art, music, and more.

Join us on Saturday, August 2, for an exclusive in-studio rehearsal with LADP dancers and Artistic Director Benjamin Millepied as they prepare for the world premiere of a triptych of dances, including Reflections (2013), Hearts & Arrows (2014), and On the Other Side (2016)—each celebrating the union of movement, music, and visual art.

Experience select moments from this trilogy, followed by brief comments from Benjamin about his creative process. These three dances will be performed together for the first time in a world premiere event at the Brisbane Festival in September 2025, marking the culmination of a creative journey spanning more than a decade, before making it’s US premiere at The Wallis in October 2025.

Non-alcoholic refreshments and light bites will be available.

Each session offers a distinct lens into the creative process. Guests may attend one or both rehearsals.

Join us for the world premiere of Dance Map, narrated by Benjamin Millepied, at the Dance Camera West Film Festival on January 29th, 2025, at 7:00pm. Barnsdall Art Park.

Dance Map captures the impact of La Ville Dansée, a June 2024 city-wide dance festival by Benjamin Millepied’s Paris Dance Project. The festival featured free to the public, site-specific dance performances throughout 10 neighborhoods in Paris, revealing the city’s invisible stories through ephemeral dances. The film follows four Parisians as they interact with the festival, blending ordinary and extraordinary tales of dance and music.

For its season opening, Delirium Musicum presents “A Delirious Beethoven Anniversary”, a concert celebrating Beethoven’s 200 years of immortality, featuring breathtaking masterpieces by Brahms and Beethoven specially arranged for the ensemble, as well as a premiere by Gianluca Bersanetti:

Founded in 2018 by violin virtuoso Etienne Gara, Delirium Musicum harnesses the artistic excellence, energy, and leadership of a generation of young musicians in Los Angeles who are forging a rich musical identity nourished by the city’s bustling artistic mosaic and boundary-bending creative force. Join us for a glimpse into the artists’ creative process as they make new work during the LAUNCH:LA residency program.

Chosen for their bold interdisciplinary approach to movement and collaboration, 2024 LAUNCH:LA 4 artists Charissa Kroeger and Evan Sagadencky + Kevin Zambrano and Julia Eichten will be creating new work at LADP’s DTLA studio space for the month of October. Works created during the program will premiere on October 25th, 2024 as part of LADP Presents at 2245.

LAUNCH:LA is LADP’s residency program supporting Los Angeles-based emerging artists in the creation and presentation of new work. Each LAUNCH:LA artist receives three weeks of rehearsal space, monetary support, and production resources to create new dance-centered work that is presented to audiences in LADP’s theater at the culmination of the residency.
